Senior R&D Engineer

The Senior R&D Engineer’s primary purpose is to solicit grants and research projects in both government and private sectors. He/She will be responsible for the development of new products and/or the continual improvement of existing products. The Senior R&D Engineer will be responsible for continued growth in and success of the company by creating new opportunities for product development. 

The position reports to the Chief Technology Officer.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Mathematical and communication skills (written and oral)
  • Continually increases knowledge through education both formal and informal
  • Computer literate
  • Solicit research projects from both government and private sectors
  • Assist in technical product support for Mo-Sci
  • Ensure subordinate positions and personnel operate in a safe manner meeting governmental and company safety policies and procedures
  • To establish project timelines and priorities
  • Soliciting Government R&D Grant Programs (SBIR/STTR), Private/Commercial R&D projects, Project management, and technical support to Mo-Sci
  • Responsible for reviewing all open solicitations from the SBIR/STTR programs and determining which solicitations have relevance and offer the best chance of being awarded
  • Maintaining the level of research income under their submissions to be 150 to 300 percent of their annual salary
  • Presenting a quarterly report that lists the proposed projects with a short summary of the technical aspects and the likely outcomes gained by submitting selected proposals
  • Responsible for the management of each project currently awarded through his/her submissions
  • Technical support required in product development/support for Mo-Sci
  • Manages awarded projects efficiently and effectively
Minimum Required Education and Experience

MS Degree in Ceramic, Material Science, or Glass Engineering

Preferred: Ph.D. in one of the above disciplines. 

Experience/knowledge of two to three years in research in the above disciplines with an emphasis on glass engineering. Along with experience in project management in the fields listed.

Technical Sales Representative

The Technical Sales Representative’s primary purpose is to solicit new business for new and existing customers in all sectors. He/She will be responsible for providing technical support to customers, advising customers on the best products to buy based on their application needs and/or working with the R&D team to develop products to meet their needs. The Technical Sales Rep will be responsible for continued growth in and success of the company by creating new business opportunities. 

The position reports to the Director of Sales.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Sell products to new and existing clients, target outreach, and provide quotes on demand.
  • Listen to customers’ needs and advise them on the best products to buy.
  • Provide technical support to clients.
  • Work with customers to determine critical to quality data reporting and set appropriate specification limits.
  • Relay technical specifications and customer expectations to engineering and manufacturing teams.
  • Work with production team regarding issues and effective solutions.
  • Act as project manager as necessary.
  • Monitor progress of projects and serve as liaison between customer and manufacturing.
  • Conduct market research and obtain feedback from clients to improve existing products.
  • Present a quarterly report that lists the proposed projects with a short summary of the technical aspects and the likely outcomes gained by submitting selected proposals
Minimum Required Education and Experience

BS Degree in Ceramic, Material Science, Chemistry or similar.

Experience/knowledge of two to three years in the above disciplines with an emphasis on glass or ceramics.  Along with experience in project management in the fields listed.

Facility Maintenance Technician

The Facility Maintenance Technician’s primary purpose is to provide electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and HVAC assistance to the various entities of MO SCI, LLC. This position will also provide electronics and maintenance assistance to the various entities, as well as maintain the facilities and grounds. In addition, this role will act as a “backup” for the Facility Services Technician.

The position reports to the Facilities Maintenance Coordinator.   

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Serve as the primary technical specialist for electrical needs and troubleshooting
  • Prepare documentation in a timely manner
  • Stock and maintain the tool crib
  • Preventive maintenance for equipment and document activities in the program
  • Maintain the facility grounds
  • Security wiring, CCTV equipment and software maintenance
  • Run and maintain network wiring
  • Assist with supervising and coordinating contractors
  • Fabricate or coordinate the fabrication of high-quality equipment
  • Backup Facility Services Technician
  • Continually increases knowledge through an education program (formal or informal) to keep abreast of new developments and opportunities within the industry
Minimum Required Education and Experience
  • High School diploma or GED, willing to pursue additional training to upgrade his/her education and /or sharpen any skill deficiencies
  • One year of basic electrical wiring
  • One year of basic electronics troubleshooting (AC/DC)
