Senior R&D Engineer

The Senior R&D Engineer’s primary purpose is to solicit grants and research projects in both government and private sectors. He/She will be responsible for the development of new products and/or the continual improvement of existing products. The Senior R&D Engineer will be responsible for continued growth in and success of the company by creating new opportunities for product development. 

The position reports to the Chief Technology Officer.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Mathematical and communication skills (written and oral)
  • Continually increases knowledge through education both formal and informal
  • Computer literate
  • Solicit research projects from both government and private sectors
  • Assist in technical product support for Mo-Sci
  • Ensure subordinate positions and personnel operate in a safe manner meeting governmental and company safety policies and procedures
  • To establish project timelines and priorities
  • Soliciting Government R&D Grant Programs (SBIR/STTR), Private/Commercial R&D projects, Project management, and technical support to Mo-Sci
  • Responsible for reviewing all open solicitations from the SBIR/STTR programs and determining which solicitations have relevance and offer the best chance of being awarded
  • Maintaining the level of research income under their submissions to be 150 to 300 percent of their annual salary
  • Presenting a quarterly report that lists the proposed projects with a short summary of the technical aspects and the likely outcomes gained by submitting selected proposals
  • Responsible for the management of each project currently awarded through his/her submissions
  • Technical support required in product development/support for Mo-Sci
  • Manages awarded projects efficiently and effectively
Minimum Required Education and Experience

MS Degree in Ceramic, Material Science, or Glass Engineering

Preferred: Ph.D. in one of the above disciplines. 

Experience/knowledge of two to three years in research in the above disciplines with an emphasis on glass engineering. Along with experience in project management in the fields listed.

Skills and Competencies
  • Good understanding of engineering and technology challenges
  • Strong emotional intelligence
  • Proficient in the Microsoft Office suite (i.e. Excel, PowerPoints, etc.)
  • A desire to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
  • Adept multi-tasker with the ability to quickly prioritize and effectively delegate tasks
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills, including demonstrated comfort and finesse in communicating with senior leadership teams.
  • A results-oriented approach and take-charge attitude
  • Enthusiasm for business travel
Working Conditions
  • Work will be done in office and manufacturing environment
  • The nature of the work may expose the incumbent to a variety of hazardous materials such as acids, SiO2, heat, etc.
Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee will frequently be required to sit; climb; stand; walk; lift; turning head and torso bending arms; wrists and fingers. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Job Type: Full Time

Schedule: Monday to Friday with weekend availability

Supplemental pay types: Yearly bonus

Willingness to travel: 25%

Manufacturing Technician

The Manufacturing Technician provides the necessary manufacturing of products that meet or exceed customer quality specifications.

Qualifications

The ability to:

  • Manufacture material in accordance with established standards

  • Provide assistance to other departments and co-workers
  • Document process parameters and establish traceability

Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required

Schedule: Sun-Wed (6am-5pm) and Wed-Sat (6am-5pm)
