Glasses are widely used as hermetic sealants due to their superior hermeticity, high-temperature stability, and compositional flexibility to tailor for specific properties. But there is no one-size-fits-all approach to selecting a sealing glass — factors such as thermal expansion, softening temperature, and operational temperature must be considered before pairing a sealing glass with other materials.

In our new Sealing Glass Selection Guide, Mo-Sci Senior R&D Director, Cheol-Woon (CW) Kim, explains the different glass seal types and selection criteria to help engineers make the best choices when designing components.
